Creative People Doing Happy Hour.

It’s easy. It’s casual. It’s fun. It works like this:

It’s usually the first Tuesday of the month (sometimes the second Tuesday because of a holiday or a seismic event). We pick a bar and go until it doesn’t work anymore. Currently we’re meeting up at Stoup Capitol Hill. Our reserved table bounces around—often in the front corner of the Broadway side—but could be anywhere. If you don’t see familiar faces, look for a reservation card. The rules? 1. Be cool. 2. You’re responsible for your own tab.

Creative People Doing Inspiring events IN SEATTLE.

Design seminars, workshops, lectures (the fun kind), why not go with your creative people friends?

How about a curated list of events that you can select from? Sounds pretty cool. We might even put something together ourselves. Do you have an inspiring event that you want us to feature? Send us the deets.

DOING
GOOD WORK

Creative People Doing Field Trips AROUND SEATTLE.

Museums? An obscure indie film? Maybe an art walk? Or a hike? Who knows. But we’re going to get out and do something interesting.

This is a work in progress. Let’s say it’s our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal, coined by author Jim Collins, who as far as we can tell isn’t a creeper and therefore can be cited). We have big plans swimming in our heads. Until then, send us any field trips you have planned to help get us doing.

It's too rough out there to go it alone.

Why are we doers doing? Maybe "Misery loves company?" Or maybe: "Strength in numbers?" Or more like what the wise sage Cindy Lauper said: "Creatives just wanna have fun." We say it's: "All of the above."

The pandemic did a number on everyone. Especially creative types. Even the most introverted creative needs to talk to something more than a houseplant or cat every once in while. Although cats are really great, we need stimulus and interaction. We are social creatures. The outside world is where our ideas comes from just as much as our inner worlds. And you need to share your ideas with your colleagues and fellow creative doers. It's how we survive and flourish.

Some of us realized we developed bad social habits that will take deliberate, thoughtful action to reverse. And what better way than the time-tested solution of going to a bar with your friends?

“As a solo freelancer, it’s great to hang out with fellow creatives. Even when we do different types of work for wildly differing clients, there are always common themes. And when we drop the shop talk, it’s usually something funny :)”
